Rico's Shooter who is called Mercury was recently relinquished after being adopted about 2 months ago. His adopter really loves him but Mercury really wants to be with another greyhound. He is in a foster home with other greyhounds and he is doing very well with the dogs and the cats in the foster home. If you are looking for a second or third greyhound--do not overlook this gorgeous and sweet boy. He turned 3 years old in August.
Foster Update 9/10/2016
Rico’s Shooter, called Mercury, is an absolute gem! Born August 13, 2013. He has a calming, gentle spirit. Here’s what else you need to know about Mercury:
- Excellent house manners; aside from a nervous accident the moment he first got in the house, he has had no accidents and does his “business” outside.
- Highly affectionate and mushy.
- Walks beautifully on a leash; a true gentleman.
- Sleeps all night on a dog bed next to our bed.
- Eats well.
- Very quiet and unassuming.
- Great with our dog-friendly kids, ages 11 and 15.
- Gets along with our 2 greyhounds and a foster. Our hounds are males. The 12 year-old is like an elder statesman. The 8 year old is a goof ball. Mercury also gets along with another foster, a happy-go-lucky 3-year-old female.
- Totally ignores our cats, which is saying a lot. They are hyperactive Bengals; Mercury doesn’t acknowledge them.
- Has learned the rules and routine of our busy home quickly.
- Crates well while we are at work.
- Excellent on the stairs and walking on our wood, tile, and laminate flooring.
- Has shown no food or space aggression.
- Travels well in the car.
We have video cameras in our home to remotely monitor the dogs when we are out. Every time we’ve checked in, Mercury is sleeping soundly (what else?). He will do well in a home with another greyhound or other dog as he enjoys the company. While he has confidence, Mercury is not an alpha; he is most comfortable having another dog to share his time with.
Mercury is an exceptionally sweet boy. The home that adopts him will be welcoming a greyhound that is devoted and loving. He is a treasure.

Rico's Shooter is one handsome boy! He is very friendly and gives kisses. He is a happy boy who is a leaner and very interactive. He is another one of those "mooshie" boys who we love. He is not a real big boy--kind of average size but he has a big personality that makes him a stand out. He was described by the folks in Florida as "happy and friendly"--we totally agree. Shooter will be 3 years old in August. He was cat tolerant with supervision.
