March in Flemington Memorial Day Parade

NJGAP has invited GFNJ to march with them in Flemington's Memorial Day Parade.
We assemble at 9am in the parking lot by Hunterdon Urgent Care (at site of former Reebok outlet) on Church Street next to Walgreens, and step off to march at 10am. Let's meet up under the trees by Hunterdon Urgent Care so the dogs have some shade until the parade starts. I'll be there earlier, closer to 9am for you early risers.
You can park in the Hunterdon Urgent Care parking lot if you get there early enough, or in the lot across the street. The parking lot is just off the intersection of Church St. and Rt. 31. There is also parking on Broad St. by the RR tracks in the store/restaurant parking lots. If you head south on Rt. 31, Church St. is the last traffic light before you reach the Flemington Circle. There's a Wawa and Walgreen's on opposite corners, so you can't miss it. If you come down Rt. 202, make a right at the last traffic light before the Flemington Circle by iHOP, proceed over to Rt. 31 by the Wawa and Walgreens, then drive across Rt. 31 past Walgreens to parking lot on the left.
Parade steps off at 10am as we make a left on to Church St. and proceed to the second traffic light where we hang a right on Main St. We march north up Main St. to the Civil War statue at the northern end of Main. Parade route is a little over a half mile, so shouldn't be too stressful for the dogs. Overall parade lasts about an hour. Depending on our spot in the procession, we may be near the beginning or towards the end. I requested we not be next to loud fire engines.
There are closing ceremonies at the statue after the parade is over. You can either stick around to watch the rest of the parade march by then observe the closing ceremony, or go back to your car after we've finished marching if you need to go home right away. We generally hang out on the grass lawns in front of buildings opposite the statue. There is a 21 gun salute at the very end of the ceremony, so suggest we all depart before that so it doesn't freak out the dogs ... those guns fire loud blanks.
Please dress your greys w/ some sort of patriotic bandana or other star-spangled adornment. You may want to bring a water dish so your dogs have something to drink before and after the parade.

Come join us for Warwick's famous annual Applefest in Warwick, NY.
Please join GFNJ friends and bring your pup to show off at this years Applefest in Warwick.
If you have never experienced Applefest it is a very large craft fair with entertainment and close to 30,000 visitors! Yes 30,000! We are going on our 15th year I believe and have had great results showing off our greys at our booth. We also bring in donations and new adopters.
Greyhounds are encouraged to show their stuff at the booth but cannot stroll around the fair so if you do intend to come and do not want to help out at the booth, please leave your pup at home. but come by and see us. We can also pup sit if you bring your pup and want to get a bite or buy something!.Our success depends on the number of dogs we have and our volunteers. This is dear to me as I adopted after seeing my very first greyhound at Applefest 23 years ago!

We will be pushing our Sunday hound walk at Veterans Park back to 10am due to the summer heat. The time change goes in effect this Sunday, July 2nd. As many of you know, the walks will be shorter and most likely include a dip in the creek. Bring plenty of water for you and your hound(s). Wear footwear you don't mind getting wet or bring an extra leash to give your hounds room to cool down in the water.
