Play for Greyhounds

Greyhound Friends of NJ is sponsoring a fundraising bus trip to the Trump Taj Mahal Casino on Saturday, April 5th, 2008.

The charter bus will leave the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne (Macy's parking lot) at 9:00AM and return at 8:30PM. The bus will also make a second pickup at 9:30am at the southbound Cheesequake service area (outside the McDonalds) on the Garden State Parkway and return at 7:30pm.

Everyone will have 6 hours in AC with the bus leaving Atlantic City at 5:30pm.

COST: $40 with a $20 coin return and a $5 food voucher

Earthfest 2008 Presented by D.O.G.S. of Vernon

On April 27, Dog Owners Gathering Society (D.O.G.S.) of Vernon, NJ, as part of Vernon's Earthfest celebration, will give dogs and their owners what they hope will be a delicious treat: A foretaste of the dog park they plan to build on 90 acres of open space off Sandhill Road.



The park will be located on Sandhill Rd between Holy Counselor Lutheran Church and the Montessori School across from Drew Road.

Parking will be at the Lutheran Church for this event.

Greyhound Friends NJ has been invited to hold a Meet & Greet at the event. There will be other Rescue groups there as well as demonstrations from FEMA Search & Rescue, Seeing Eye Dogs, Agility Dogs, Obedience Dogs and Therapy Dogs. It promises to be a very educational and enjoyable event for people who love dogs.

The hours are from 12 -6 pm and all volunteers are greatly appreciated.

REMINDERS ABOUT DOGGIE ETIQUETTE

Edison Family Fun Day

For only $10 a family of four (admission for adults is $3/children are $2) can watch a BMX Stunt Show, build a birdhouse complements of Home Depot, witness an illusionist and eat fare from Outback Steakhouse, Applebees or Charlie Browns.

This won't happen at the mall or a local carnival, but it will happen at Edison's 18th Annual Family Day Against Drugs and Violence.

The event, which takes on the air of a festival, is designed to bring families and Edison residents together for a day filled with fun, food, games and health information.

This year it will be held on Sunday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center, 97 Sunfield Ave. in Raritan Center.

GFNJ will have a table at this event - we could use help from volunteers and their greys to show off how wonderful greyhounds are!!!

Calling All Passaic and Bergen County Greyhounds for the weekly Sunday Greyhound Walk. Every Sunday, weather permitting, there's an informal Greyhound Walk around Van Saun Park in Paramus. The longest distance we walk is just under 2 miles, but it's easy to bail out at anytime if you or your pooch is pooped. And speaking of pooped... here's the details: Bring: Something to pick up the poop. Place: Van Saun Park Paramus. Parking Lot #5 (The Pony Rides) Time: 9 am Sundays.

Calling all Warren County and Lehigh Valley greyhounds!! Come and join us every Sunday morning at 9 AM at the Merrill Creek Reservoir for a walk around Merrill Creek!! There are lots of trails to choose from, and, GFNJ volunteer, Nancy Barnett will provide us with maps of the area, so there are different trails available for any e-bodied greyhound. We will be meeting in the Parking Lot at the Main Entrance at 10 AM every Sunday morning. Please log on to the Merrill Creek website for directions. We will be walking through woods and fields and there are also several watering holes for the hounds to drink and swim. Please bring water for you and your hound and dress you and your hound appropriately. Bug spray is also recommended for this time of year.
