Wood-ridge Family Fun Day

Come join GFNJ at Wood-ridge Family Fun Day on June 8th from 1-5pm.

The festivities are along Valley Boulevard (from North Ave to Sussex Ave).

This event requires that all dogs attending have proof of vaccinations.

Pet Adoption Day at Minerals Hotel and Spa, Vernon, NJ

Volunteers needed to show off their beautiful Greys. The Spa will provide water for the dogs, chairs and a shaded pavilion for us!

Join GFNJ in celebrating the 4th of July !

GFNJ has been invited to participate in the Asbury Park 4th of July Parade.

Weather: As of this moment, it looks like high temperatures will be a relatively comfortable 80-82 degrees. There's a possibility of some sporadic drizzle throughout the day, which shouldn't pose any problem (in fact, a little sprinkle might be to our benefit).

Meeting: As mentioned previously, all are invited to meet at Jeremy & Larry's house as a base camp between 11 and 11:30am (1120 Second Avenue). If you need directions, please contact Jeremy or Larry.

Line-Up Position: Our line number is #22. For the benefit of those who decide to meet us at the actual line-up place, we will be situated at the corner of Grand Avenue and Summerfield Avenue facing Wesley Lake.

Parade Route: The parade runs down Cookman Avenue, up Main Street, and then up Fifth Avenue along Sunset Lake, finally ending at Convention Hall. If you're not familiar with Asbury, city blocks are only a short distance apart -- even shorter than New York City's east-west numbered streets in most cases.

Times: We must be at our line-up position at 12noon. The parade begins sharply at 1:00pm.

Cars: Either Larry or Jeremy will forego the actual marching to make sure that there are at least 2 vehicles parked near our finishing post so we can get the pooches back with little hassle.

Afterward: As mentioned previously, all are invited back to Jeremy & Larry's house after the parade to give the dogs (and us) some rest in the A/C, as well as snacks. Joyce is making her patented "Frosty Paws," and we'll have other goodies as well. No obligation -- but the invitation is wide open.

We will be very careful to make sure that the weather is not too hot for the greys (and people) to safely march. Jeremy and Larry have several ideas for keeping greyhounds cool - the parade is also not far from the ocean on a tree lined street, so we are hoping for cooling breezes and shade.

Greyhound Meet & Greet at Alliance Bank in Paoli, PA

Alliance Bank, in cooperation with the Chester County Chapter of Greyhound Friends of New Jersey sponsoring a “Greyhound Adoption Meet-and-Greet” at their Paoli branch on Saturday, July 19, 2008, from 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Visitors will be able to meet an assortment of retired racing greyhound dogs, speak to their owners, and ask questions. This is a great way for potential adopters or people who are curious about greyhounds to learn about the dogs and meet them up close.

PLACE: Holiday Bowl, Oakland, NJ

DATE: August 2nd

TIME: 7:00 (registration) pm til ??

PRICE: $60 per couple or 2 person team/ $30 for singles and $25 for non-bowlers
