Victorian Days Meet & Greet, Belvidere, NJ

Come on out for a Victorian style Meet & Greet on Saturday, September 12th from 9 am until 4 pm in Belvidere, NJ for the 22nd annual Victorian Days!

See more certified historic and Victorian structures per square mile than any other New Jersey town; vintage & classic car show to knock your socks off; live entertainment; food; music; vendors!

This is not a stressful day for any of us. "Home base" is at Nancy's small front yard that is a block off the town green, so you can come and go to the square where the festivities are held - that means you can participate at whatever level your dog is comfortable. Crowd-friendly dogs take turns walking the perimeter of the green (no dogs allowed on the green; motor vehicle traffic is also banned around the perimeter streets); meet & greet foot traffic from the front yard at Nancy's; or rest your dog off-leash in the shady, securely fenced in back yard.

Volunteers can chat with fellow volunteers, local townspeople, or mingle and greet some of the thousands of visitors to the event in our one-square mile Victorian town.

We have a stock of gorgeous reproduction Victorian hats for our dogs to wear and they get a lot of attention, which is excellent exposure for the greyhounds!

We also take turns "dog sitting" so everyone who wants to has a chance to visit the vendors on the green itself (antique and vintage cars are parked around the perimeter and can easily be checked out while strolling with your hound - the same for all of the wonderful food vendors!)

Nancy has plenty of chairs, blankets for the dogs, fresh water - and a bathroom for the volunteers! Please join us!

As always, one of the few things even more striking and heartwarming than a beautiful former racer now a loved companion, is LOTS of beautiful greyhounds and their proud owners! If you only have one dog who will participate but more than one adult attending, there are always volunteers who appreciate an extra hand.

Fall Festival at Von Thun Farms

Come join GFNJ for a fun autumn day at this fun farm event.

The day offers hayrides to the pick your own pumpkin field, pony rides, petting zoo, corn maze, straw maze, pedal course, face painting and tattoos, sand art, candy art, games, inflatable moon bounce, vendors, food, crafters, country music, goat milking demonstrations, clown shows, straw jump, activity tent contests, and more. The farm market is open as well - delicious farm fruit pies, apple cider, candy apples, jams, jellies, and assorted baked goods are also available in the market. Admission is charged this weekend only.

Join GFNJ at D.O.G.S. of Vernon Golf Classic!

GFNJ has been invited to this event to have a Meet & Greet and mingle with the people on line for the golfing event.

Greyhound Friends will be sponsoring a photo booth, with the proceeds from the photos coming back to GFNJ.

We need volunteers to help staff the photo booth, as well as volunteers to show off their dogs.

Dr. Wendy Ross (the vet who performs many of our greys orthopedic procedures) new office is opening and GFNJ is invited!

Go Green for Greyhounds Clothing Drive Fundraiser

Greyhound Friends of NJ is hosting a clothing drive fundraiser. This effort will help keep our landfills free of clothing and each pound collected will generate cash to help adopt retired racing greyhounds into loving homes.

We will be collecting clean, usable and wearable clothing, shoes and accessories , also soft household items, i.e. bedding, curtains, tablecloths, and towels. Also welcome are hard toys and stuffed animals.

All donated items must be in tied plastic bags such as garbage or shopping bags.

Greyhound Friends of NJ's volunteers will be collecting your donated items at the following locations throughout NJ:

NEWLY ADDED: Patti from Well Bred has agreed to be a drop off location for Go Green For Greyhounds.

Due to the size of the store (storage is an impossibility) we've decided to make the drop-off a two-day event. Ellen will be on location with her van(s) on:

Ask your family, friends, and co-workers to clean out their closets for a great cause. Get the children involved in this worthwhile project --clean their closets, help greyhounds and our environment- it doesn't get much better than that!!

Asbury Park/Asbury Bark Dog Halloween Costume Parade and Meet & Greet

Asbury Bark and GFNJ are having a Halloween Parade and gathering at Asbury Bark.

Interested parade participants can register their dogs at Asbury Bark between Noon and 2pm.

All dogs are invited to march whether they're registered or not; however, only registered dogs are eligible for prizes.

The Dog Parade will begin at 2:00pm at Asbury Bark (611 Cookman Avenue).

The categories for prizes are Best Dressed, Best Costume, and Most Creative. Prizes will be provided by Asbury Bark to the winning dog in each category.

Costumes should be selected with the weather conditions and comfort of the dogs at the highest consideration.

Prizes will be given out to all registered dogs.
