The 5th Annual Grapehound Wine Tour™ is scheduled for July 29, 30, 31 & August 1st, 2010. All monies taken in for the silent auction and vendor fees, and a percentage of each wine tasting ticket purchased goes directly to participating greyhound adoption groups in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Grapehounds is moving to Seneca Lake wineries this year.
Registration opens February 1st for vendors and attendees.

L'Oreal Because Your Dog is Worth It Day

7th Annual L'Oreal "Because Your Dog Is Worth It Day"
A few of the events include doggie costume contest/beauty pagent, hay maze for dogs, dog swimming pool, dog wash, Christmas photos with Santa, doggie time out area, dog caricatures, and much more.
GFNJ had a table at this event last year and it was lots of fun and good attendance. Dogs MUST be “other dog” friendly, as this is a day for dogs and their owners, so many other breeds of dogs are present — both large and small.
Adult admission is $10. All proceeds collected by the event organizers go to benefit the Susan G Koman Race for the Cure.

Please join us for a Meet & Greet on Saturday, September 11th during Belvidere's 23rd Annual Victorian Days.
We "set up camp" at Nancy's house on Oxford Street in the little town of Belvidere, NJ about a block off the town Green during the hours from 10:00 to 5:00. We take turns walking our dogs around the perimeter of the green where there is pedestrian traffic only, some of our dogs wear GFNJ donation coats and sport replica Victorian hats (we have a fabulous collection for males & female dogs to share), and let everyone meet our wonderful hounds. Then we relax and chat with passers-by on the sidewalk while we sit on the small lawn or front porch of the house. We "dog-sit" for each other if needed and take turns checking out the craft vendors, amazing classic & antique car show, fabulous food vendors, etc.
Belvidere has been doing this for 23 years so there's lots to see and do. Dogs get a chance to rest off leash in the shady fenced back yard or on the front porch, and can meet the public only at the house where it is quieter, if they are not comfortable with the crowds around the green. This is a greyt day because you aren't attached to a leash for hours standing in one place, which means it isn't very tiring or stressful - it really IS fun!

Every Sunday, weather permitting, there's an informal Greyhound Walk around Van Saun Park in Paramus. The longest distance we walk is just under 2 miles, but it's easy to bail out at anytime if you or your pooch is pooped. And speaking of pooped... here's the details:

WE have a booth and an
entire corner with grass and shade for the dogs - bring your
blanket,chairs and comfy shoes - we have water and treats!
We need volunteers to cover all hours and so everyone gets to enjoy our Greys.
