7th Annual Scotch Bowl

August 4th ~ Registration starts at 7pm

Holiday Bowl, Oakland, NJ

Bowling

Looking for something fun to do on a Saturday night? Well mark your calendar - August 4th - GFJN in conjunction with Rusty's Place Pet Supply will hold the 7th Annual Scotch Bowl in Oakland, NJ. You may be askng yourself "What is a Scotch Bowl?" Unlike regular bowling, a Scotch Doubles Bowl is bowling with a partner and the games are completely for fun!!! In each frame the first person throws the first ball and then your partner throws the second to finish the frame.

To make it interesting, not all frames are bowled the same way. You may find that to bowl Frame #3, you and your partner must lay down to bowl your frame, or to complete Frame #6 you must throw the ball between your partner's legs!!!

In addition to the bowling hilarity, we have a wonderful delicious buffet dinner of hot foods (ie: cavatelli w/ broccoli, chicken marsala and more) as well as cold cuts and salads. There will also be a tricky tray, 50/50 and grand prize raffle. Holiday Bowl, in Oakland NJ has been generous enough to provide the food, bartenders and wait staff. Shoes are even available. And if you can't find your size shoe, or would prefer to wear your own, well no problem, wear rubber, white soled shoes or sneakers. Since you don't need a dog to attend, you can bring your non-dog friends and family and make it an annual outing. Did we mention that we also sell buffet only tickets to those that want to come, enjoy a night out but don't want to bowl?

We have raised over $30,000 these past seven years and are very proud that we could have fun, spend a great night out and help our Greys. Keep your eyes out for detail of this year's Scotch Bowl on the GFNJ website - get your tickets early - this event has sold out every year. We can always use volunteers and tricky tray donations. If you are interested in volunteering, donating a tricky tray or grand prize for the raffle, please contact Nancy Bowden at bowden@warwick.net. Don't forget if you work for a retail store or electronics, or entertainment company and can find us a grand prize at a great price, we would love for you to contact us.

Update on Florida Bill - 1/18/2012

Since the Florida Bill to decouple greyhound racing from poker at that state's tracks did not make it to the final vote in 2011, it is being represented in the upcoming session. We'll be watching closely as the outcome could mean track closures and thousands of greyhounds in dire need.
