About Avalanche

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: Brindle

RF Avalanche is a very handsome and lovable boy.  He's affectionate and one of those big "mooshie" boys that we have come to love. He's a tail wagger and just happy to be around people.  Avalanche walks nicely on leash.  This sweet boy will b 3 years old in March and he is cat tolerant with supervision.
Foster Update:

March 15, 2015  Avalanche has been with our family for a week.  Our family consists of me (her foster mom), my husband, Gigi a Greyhound, a cat, and two birds.  Avalanche fits right in.  He quickly got on board with our household routine and has never once had an accident or marked.  He sleeps soundly through the night.  Avalanche learned the steps (a full long flight of them) in 2 seconds flat!

Avalanche is a big, beautiful, confident, active, mushy boy that is social and outgoing and loves being around people.  He loves snuggles, ear scratches, belly rubs (which he will eagerly rollover for!) and massages.  He is puppy-like and exhibits curiosity and interest in his surroundings and investigates every nook and cranny.  Thankfully, he is very intelligent and understands the word “no” and responds appropriately when corrected.  Best of all, he, rarely needs to be told “no” about the same thing a twice.  Like I said he is smart!  He so wants to please.

Avalanche crates nicely during the day when I am at work.  (I admit, I have a spy camera on him and can see first-hand that he is very peaceful in his crate—no restlessness or crying—just one big snooze-fest!)   At lunchtime he gets a potty, walk and companionship break and then re-crates for the afternoon.

Avalanche has a happy demeanor and playful, fun spirit. He loves toys and will run after balls and then prances around with them.  At this point, Avalanche would rather not share toys with Gigi as he tries to establish himself as the boss—so for now they enjoy individual time with the toy basket.  Avalanche will however share toys with people and will let you take them from his mouth happily.  So in the meantime, Avalanche and Gigi are building a friendship through long walks (he walks great on the leash), chilling and napping together.

With his outgoing personality and affectionate nature, when Avalanche “grows up," I could easily see him as a therapy dog.   When you meet Avalanche you will see how easy it is to fall in love with him.
