Please bring: a bottle of water, a non-flexi leash, cleanup bags, and your walking shoes!

Plan to walk about 45 minutes or until your dog is too tired!

As many of you may have seen, Hunterdon Hills has built a brand new facility adjacent to their current offices located at 411 Rt. 22 East Whitehouse, NJ. There are no client pets allowed at the event, but they have graciously invited GFNJ to set up a table and have some greyhounds available.

NJGAP has invited GFNJ to march with them in Flemington's Memorial Day Parade.

We assemble at 9:30am in the Reebok parking lot on Church Street (next to Walgreens), and step off to march at 10am. Let's meet up under the trees by the Reebok outlet so the dogs have some shade until the parade starts.

You can park in the Reebok parking lot if you get there early enough, or in the lot across the street. The Reebok outlet is just off the intersection of Church St. and Rt. 31. If you head south on Rt. 31, Church St. is the last traffic light before you reach the Flemington Circle. There's a Wawa and Walgreen's on opposite corners, so you can't miss it. If you come down Rt. 202, make a right at the last traffic light before the Flemington Circle, proceed over to Rt. 31 by the Wawa and Walgreens, then drive across Rt. 31 to the Reebok outlet on the left.

Parade steps off at 10am as we make a left on to Church St. and proceed to the second traffic light where we hang a right on Main St. We march north up Main St. to the Civil War statue at the northern end of Main. Parade route is a little over a half mile, so shouldn't be too stressful for the dogs. Overall parade lasts for about an hour. Depending on our spot in the procession, we may be near the beginning or towards the end.

There are closing ceremonies at the statue after the parade is over. You can either stick around to watch the rest of the parade march by then observe the closing ceremony, or go back to your car after we've finished marching if you need to go home right away. We generally hang out on the grass lawns in front of buildings opposite the statue. There is a 21 gun salute at the very end of the ceremony, so suggest we all depart before that so it doesn't freak out the dogs ... those guns fire loud blanks.

Please dress your greys w/ some sort of patriotic bandana or other star-spangled adornment. You may want to bring a water dish so your dogs have something to drink before and after the parade.
